At the 1939 Registry, there were some 340 children and staff living at the holiday camp.

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether Pakefield Holiday Camp, Lowestoft, has been inspected recently; and whether it is considered suitable for evacuated children during the winter months?

Mr. Lindsay The Pakefield Holiday Camp has been inspected recently and it has been decided that it is unsuitable for continued occupation by handicapped children during the winter months. Steps are being taken to move the children to more suitable accommodation at the earliest possible date.
