Arthur's Army Attestation Papers give his age as 18 years 6 months. The papers are dated 28 December 1893, making his date of birth about June 1875.
However, his birth was officially registered Q1 1877 in Edmonton Registration District, and is confirmed as 20th November 1876 in the 1939 WWII Register.
