He died of brian damage caused by falling down a flight of stairs on 5 May 2005 at the age of 76 in Morristown Memorial Hospital, New Jersey, USA.753,756 On Saturday, 30th April 2005, he slipped on a flight of stairs and suffered brain damage. On the following Thursday he was taken off life support and died hours later. He was a dedicated researcher into his branch of the Blaber family, and was instrumental in the formation of his family branch on this web site. "He was a great man and will be missed dearly" said his nephew, Jeremy Blaber, of Kingston, NY, USA.

ROCKAWAY - Reginald Joseph Blaber Jr. died surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 5, 2005 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was 76.
Born in Brooklyn, the son of the late Reginald and Josephine Blaber, he was a graduate of Brooklyn Prep and St. Peter's College.
A Korean War veteran, he proudly served in the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of sergeant first class.
Mr. Blaber was an award-winning salesman for Columbus Coated Fabrics of Columbus, Ohio. He retired in 1995 after 30 years.
He was active in the Brooklyn Prep Alumni Association and the Cedar Lake Community Club, which he served for decades as a member of the board of the property owners' association. He loved his Cedar Lake community.
He was a parishioner at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Rockaway, and a member of St. Cecilia's Senior Club.
Mr. Blaber was extremely loyal and devoted to his family and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, compassion and generosity.
He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Kathleen Ann Cooney, who died in 1987; the couple had been happily married since 1952. Surviving are their three children, Kathleen Phelan, Reginald J. Blaber III and Brian Blaber of the Cedar Lake section of Denville; and eight grandchildren.
Mr. Blaber is survived by his wife, Joanne McCormick, whom he married in 1993; and her three children, Michael, Patrick and Erin, and seven grandchildren who adopted Mr. Blaber as their own.
The funeral will be Monday, May 9. It will start at 10 a.m. from Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, www.normandean.com, and proceed to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Rockaway, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30. An interment service will be held at Denville Cemetery.
Friends and relatives will be received on today, May 7, from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, May 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
