In 1918, he was a sergeant in the Royal Garrison Artillery. He was awarded the Victory and British Medals and on 29th August 1918 he was posthumously awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the Field.
He died on 9 April 1918 at the age of 26 in Belgium.340,350,351 He was killed in action.
