4. Arthur Albert Howe BLABER¹ was born on 2 February 1883 in Sittingbourne, Kent, England.^{1,59,60,61,62,63,64} Father unknown. Probably Henry James Howe. He was christened on 8 December 1883 in Milton, Gravesend, Kent, England.⁶⁵ He lived at 3 The Square, Petticoat Lane in Chalk, Kent, England in 1891.^15,48 In 1901 Arthur was a Carter on Farm.¹⁹ He lived at 4 Chalk Street in Chalk, Kent, England in 1901.¹⁹ He served in the Royal Navy from 3 February 1902 to 20 May 1919.⁶³ Archive Reference: ADM 188/486/299883. Arthur's Service Number was 299883. He served on the following vessels: Pembroke II (12 separate periods); Sans Pareil; Resolution; Swiftsure; Talbot; Minerva; Lord Nelson; St George; Bulwark; Pelorus; Perseus; Actacon; Victory IV; Victory IX; Iactolus (Gaddesden); Synner (Gaddesden) and Hawkins. He was wounded in action in the Dardenelles ("Hook" Battalion).
Arthur was described as 5' 4" tall, blue eyes, fair hair and of fair complexion on 3 February 1902.⁶³ In 1939 he was a General Labourer.⁶⁴ He died on 29 November 1955 at the age of 72 in Chatham, Kent, England.^66,67 Arthur had his estate probated on 20 February 1956 in London, England.⁶⁷ Arthur left effects of £1297 4s 1d to Elizabeth BLABER (widow).

The index reference is identical for both. They^68,69 lived at 'Minerva', Durham Road in Gillingham, Kent, England in 1939.⁶⁴ They⁶⁴ lived at 45 Durham Road in Rainham, Kent, England in 1955.⁶⁷ It is likely, with the various boundary changes and addition of house numbers, that this is the same address they were living at in 1939.
Elizabeth GRIGG, daughter of William GRIGG and Victoria Louisa HARBIRD, was born on 30 June 1892 in Gravesend, Kent, England.^69,70,71,72 Some sources give Date of Birth as 30th June, others give 3rd June.
She died in 1980 at the age of 88 in Hastings, East Sussex, England.⁷²
