8. Thomas BLABER was born on 20 November 1850 in Northfleet, Kent, England.129,130,131,132 He was christened on 12 January 1851 at St George's Church in Gravesend, Kent, England. He lived at 46 Woolmore Street in Poplar, London, England in 1861.50 Between 1871 and 1877 Thomas was a Driller/Iron Driller.34,60,133 He lived at 23 Tetley Street in Bromley, Kent, England on 2 April 1871.60 In 1879 he was a Stoker.134 In 1881–1882 Thomas was a Gas Works Labourer.135,136 In 1883 he was a Driller.137 Between 1885 and 1887 he was a Labourer.138,139 Thomas lived at an asylum in January 1886.140 He was ordered to be removed from the Parish of All Saints Poplar. on 2 December 1886.141 "County of Middlesex to wit.

taken on Oath before us the undersigned, being Two of Her Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the County of MIDDLESEX, this 2nd day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty Six upon a certain Complaint of the Guardians of the Poor of the said Union unto us the said Justices, that the said Pauper has come to inhabit, and is now inhabiting in the Parish of All Saints Poplar (the same being one of the Parishes comprised in the said Union) endeavouring to settle there contrary to Law, not having gained a legal Settlement there, nor in any other Parish in the said Union, now having produced any Certificate acknowledging him to be settled elsewhere, nor being exempt from removal by reason of any provision of the law; that he is now actually chargeable to the Common Fund of the said Union through Sickness, which said Sickness will produce permanent disability in the said Thomas BLABER and that the Parish of Northfleet in the County of Kent (being one of the Parishes comprised in the North Aylesford Poor Law Union, in the County of Kent) is the place of his legal Settlement.

Whereas Complaint has been made unto us, whose names are hereunto set and seals affixed, being two of Her Majesty's Justices of the Peace, acting together in and for the County of Middlesex, by the Guardians of the Poor of the first above-named Union, that

herein called the pauper has come to inhabit in the said Union, and has become and now is actually chargeable thereto, although he has not a legal Settlement in any Parish or place therein, and has not resided in any part of the said Union for the space of one year next before the application for this Warrant of Removal, and has become chargeable thereto in respect of relief made necessary by sickness.
WE, upon proof of the premises, do adjudge the same to be true:
And, upon due examination of Witnesses upon oath and otherwise, we do adjudge that the place of the last legal Settlement of the said Pauper is the Parish of Northfleet which is comprised in the said North Aylesford Union.
And having made due inquiry into the nature of the said sickness, we do hereby state that we are satisfied that the same will produce permanent disability to the said Thomas BLABER.
We do therefore hereby order you the Guardians of the Poor of the Union first above-named, at the time and in the manner prescribed by law, to remove and convey by yourselves, or by some person employed by you, the said pauper from your Union to the North Aylesford Union, and there to deliver him together with this Order, or a counterpart or true copy thereof, unto the Guardians of such last-named Union, or unto their officer, duly authorised to receive such pauper.
And we do require you, the Guardians of the Union last-named, to receive and provide for the said pauper according to law.

He was ordered to be received by North Aylesford Union on 3 December 1886.142 "To the Guardians of the Poor of the North Aylesford Union in the County of Kent.
I, the undersigned, being Clerk to the Guardians of the Poplar Union, in the County of Middlesex, do hereby give you Notice
That Thomas BLABER aged 36 years
hereinafter called the Pauper, inhabiting at the Poplar and Stepney Sick Asylum in the Parish of Bromley St Leonard in the said County of Middlesex, has become actually chargeable to the said Union, and that an Order of Justices has been obtained for his removal therefrom to your Union above-named, comprising the Parish or Place of his legal Settlement, a copy of which Order is herewith sent, And I do also give you Notice that the Grounds of the Removal of the said Pauper, are these, that the said Thomas BLABER was born in the Parish of Northfleet in year said North Aylesford Union on or about the 20th November 1850 of parents Thomas and Mary Ann BLABER.

I do hereby certify that Thomas BLABER is suffering from Arthritis which will produce permanent disability, also that he is able to travel, and it would not be dangerous for him to do so.

He lived at 50 Salmon Lane at Ratcliff in Stepney, London, England on 18 February 1887.139 Thomas was again removed from Poplar and delivered on 24 February 1887 in North Aylesford, Kent, England.145 He died in 1888 at the age of 38 in Whitechapel, London, England.146

Emily BLABER was born on 24 January 1871 in Old Ford, London, England.149,164,165 She lived at 50 Salmon Lane at Ratcliff in Stepney, London, England in March 1880.149 She was educated on 8 March 1880 at Dalgleish Street School in Tower Hamlets, London, England.149 Emily lived at 50 Salmon Lane at Ratcliff in Stepney, London, England in 1881.166 At the 1881 Census, Emily was living with her grandparents, Samuel and Mary HILLYARD. She lived at 10 Ashmount Road, off High Road in Tottenham, London, England in 1891.165 This may not be Emily BLABER, but age and place of birth are the same. She was born before her parents were married, and lived some time with her maternal grandparents, Samuel and Mary HILLYARD. It is possible that in her adult life she used the surname HILLYARD.
In 1891 she was a Domestic Servant.165 Emily is a live-in servant at the home of Eliot W GILL (42 - Coachbuilder's Clerk) and family.

Louisa Mary BLABER was born on 14 October 1883 in Poplar, London, England.177,178 She lived at 75 Culloden Street in Poplar, London, England in 1883.178 She was christened on 31 October 1883 at All Hallows' Church in Poplar, London, England.178 It is possible that Louisa Mary and Maud were twins and that Louisa Mary died soon after birth. The quick christening, 17 days after her birth, tend to bear this out. We have been unable to find any further records of Louisa Mary.
