Alfred Harold "Alf" BLABER was born on 24 January 1904 in Brighton, East Sussex, England.^{3674,3675,3676} He lived at Rhee Wall, High Street in Cranbrook, Kent, England in 1911.²⁴¹⁰ In 1920 he was an Errand Boy.³⁶⁷⁷ Alf served in the Royal Navy from 8 June 1920 to about 1935.³⁶⁷⁷ Alf's Service Number was J97488. He served as a Boy II on 'Impregnable' from 8 June 1920 to 30 January 1921, transferring to 'Thunderer/Conqueror' on 31st January 1921, and promoted to Boy I on 7 February 1921. He transferred to the 'Malaya' on 30 April 1921. He signed on for 12 years' service on 24 January 1922, continuing on the 'Malaya' until 23 June 1922. He then transferred to the 'Columbine' on 24 June 1922 and was promoted to AB on 5 January 1923. He served on various ships including the 'Victory' and 'Egremont II'. The records we have only go up to 1 January 1929 when records were transferred to another system, so at the moment we cannot say when Alf was de-mobbed from the navy. He was awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
In 1939 he was a Bus Conductor.³⁶⁷⁶ He was re-elected Chairman of the Lewes Branch of the Royal Naval Association at the Elephant and Castle Hotel on 22 January 1954 in Lewes, East Sussex, England.³⁶⁷⁸ Alf died on 31 January 1956 at the age of 52 in Lewes, East Sussex, England.^3679,3680 He had his estate probated on 24 February 1956 in Lewes, East Sussex, England.³⁶⁷⁹ Alf left his estate (£2228 10s 2d) to his widow Harriett Louisa BLABER.
