He was christened on 5 June 1885 at Holy Trinity Church in Lambeth, London, England.²¹⁴⁷ He lived at 2 Pembroke Place in Lambeth, London, England in 1885.²¹⁴⁷ Walter lived at 7 Pembroke Place in Lambeth, London, England in 1891.²¹⁴⁸ In 1901 he was a Builders Labourer.²¹⁷³ He lived at 247 Queens Buildings, Scovell Road in Southwark, London, England in 1901.²¹⁷³ In 1911 Walter was a Labourer Caster.²¹⁷⁴ He lived at 38 Burdett Buildings in Lambeth, London, England in 1911.²¹⁷⁴ He served in the Army between 1914 and 1918.^{3447,3448,3449,3450} He signed on with RASC (025451) as a driver. He later transferred to 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles and was a Rifleman (47415). His medal card shows that he died of wounds in France. It is likely that his body was never found.
John SCARBOROUGH comments: "In mid April 1918 the German forces made their last push forward, to capture Amiens, and although they made some advance they were finally stopped and pushed back. To be able to record Walter as dying from wounds he surely must have received some treatment at a first aid station behind the lines, and was probably buried nearby for recovery later. The German push may well have overrun the first aid station as happened so many times, and all trace of Walter's grave lost."

Walter lived at 1 Wood Street in Lambeth, London, England in 1915.^3447,3448 He died on 11 May 1918 at the age of 34 in Flanders, Belgium.^1400,3450 He was killed in action, but his body was never found. They were discharged on 3rd March 1916 to 7 Sellon Mews.
