He caught a bad dose of influenza on 18 May 1919 at Calais, and was evacuated to hospital in Brighton on 4 June 1919. He was discharged from hospital on 15 August 1919 after 67 days in hospital. He was placed on Class "Z" Army Reserve on 27 September 1919, and discharged on 31st March 1920. He was described as Height 5'-3" on 15 November 1916.¹⁴⁸⁴ Owen died on 24 September 1954 at the age of 55 in Brighton, East Sussex, England.¹⁴⁸⁵ He had his estate probated on 17 November 1954 in Lewes, East Sussex, England.¹⁴⁸⁵ Administration was granted to his widow, Winifred Jennie BLABER.
