264. Archibald Bertram COOMBER was born in 1889 in Greenwich, London, England.^{1449,1450,1451} The 1891 census gives his birthplace as St Johns S.E. Kent. He lived at 22 George Lane in Lewisham, London, England in 1891.⁹³⁵ He lived at 74 Balcombe Street at Regents Park in London, England in 1915.¹⁴⁵¹ Archibald served in the Army from 7 September 1915 to 19 March 1920.⁹³¹ Archibald joined the Army as a Driver in the Royal Army Service Corps (Private 62/120377). He initially gave his next of kin as his mother, Louisa COOMBER. On 20 September 1915 he joined the Expeditionary Force in France where he was an Ambulance Driver. He became a Prisoner of War on 23 March 1918, and was repatriated on 7 December 1918. In 1919 his rank was Lance Corporal. He was a Corporal when discharged in 1920. He was described as 5'-5" tall with 39 1/2" chest fully expanded on 7 September 1915.¹⁴⁵¹
