THE ATTACK ON A BRITISH 'PLANE.
HONG KONG. Wednesday. - Yesterday's incident in which a British naval aeroplane belonging to HM aircraft carrier Eagle, was fired on, occurred 40 miles south-east of the Waglan light, outside Hong Kong, it is officially learned here.
The aeroplane, after emerging from a bank of cloud, dropped a smoke float to ascertain the direction of the wind.
Then an unidentified warship opened fire, evidently being under the impression that it was being bombed.
No further details are available pending the return of HMS Eagle to Hong Kong.
The affair has been referred to Admiral Sir Charles Little, Commander-in-Chief China Station, for further inquiry.
Dr Harry BLABER, an American belonging to the Roman Catholic Mary Knoll Mission, who arrived here today, stated that while travelling to Macao from Toishan yesterday, he saw a large number of Japanese troops landing at Chikkai.
It is believed at Hong Kong that this presages the establishment of a powerful base from which further air raids on Canton and possibly later land operations can be effected. - Press association Foreign Special.

Dr Harry Patrick BLABER Jr and Constance C WHITE were married on 14 November 1935 or 27 November 1935 in Brooklyn, New York, USA.34,695,696 From the 24 November 1935 Edition of The Hartford Courant:
Catholic Mission Doctor to Wed Ex-Conn. Girl
The wedding of Dr Harry P BLABER and Miss Constance White, believed to be the first Catholic foreign mission marriage in America, will take place at St Ambrose's Church, Brooklyn, next Wednesday morning.
Dr BLABER, who was an intern in the Brooklyn Hospital, left in 1930 for five-years service in China, becoming one of the few Catholic lay doctors in the mission filed. In the last three years he has built up the Sacred Heart Hospital in Kongmoon Vicariate, near Hong Kong, from a one-room hut with five tubercular patients to a 30-bed hospital caring for 6000 patients a year. Dr BLABER also has been in charge of the medical camp of 250 lepers in Kongmoon, spending every week-end there.
Miss White, blonde and petite, is the daughter of Anthony White of Naugatuck, Conn. She is a nurse at the Brooklyn Hospital.
Father Louis BLABER, an uncle of Dr BLABER, and pastor of St Ambrose's Church, will celebrate the nuptial mass. Miss Ann White, sister of the bride, will be bridesmaid. Leo BLABER will be his brother's best man. Dr BLABER will return in February to his mission work in China with his bride.

Romance of Intern and Nurse
There were two missing from the Christmas dinner who will be there for the Easter affair. They are Dr Harry BLABER, young American from Brooklyn, NY and his wife, Constance. I met them before they sailed for China last February. Mrs BLABER is young, trim, and blonde with remarkably steady eyes, deep grey, which belied the frivolity of her high heels. The heels have probably changed by now, but I think the eyes are as steady as ever.
This is their story. Dr BLABER was a young intern at the Brooklyn Hospital, when he met and won Miss Constance WHITE, a nurse. They were engaged to be married at the end of Dr BLABER's internship in 1930. But the young doctor felt himself urged to devote some time to the foreign missions. So he presented himself beofer Bishop, then Father, James A WALSH and said in that crisp professional manner of his, to the superior general of Maryknoll: "Please accept my services on your missions for the space of five years. At the end of that time, I wish to return, marry, and set up in practice in Brooklyn, as my grandfather and uncles have done before me."
But five years steeped in China's sufferings are only enough to show any generous man that he must give life itself if he is to alleviate even a fraction of the ills he sees. Dr BLABER considered; Miss WHITE considered. With eyes open, knowing well the career ahead of them, they agreed to choose each other "for life" and the mission cause into the bargain.
In September, Dr BLABER left the leper colony for a brief respite. In November, his uncle, Father Louis BLABER, officiated at the Nuptial Mass in Brooklyn. They sailed in February, stopping at Hawaii for two weeks to observe leper work at Molokai. And they tell me the days of high romance are over.
