His obituary ran "after an illness borne with great fortitude, humour and courage. Most beloved husband and friend of Gwendoline Norah, dearest father to Jennifer and father in law of John. Adored by his grandchildren Nicola, Alistair, Lucinda, Caroline, Joanne and Julian.

Gwendoline Norah SHARPE³⁹⁷ died on 1 February 1983 in Hellingly, East Sussex, England.³⁹⁷ [NEED TO DEFINE SENTENCE:Place of Burial]³⁹⁷ Her obituary states "devotedly cared for by the staff of Hellingly Hospital. Funeral service at Hellingly Hospital Chapel at 12.45 followed by cremation.."
Apart from her daughter Jennifer, the obit mentions "lovingly remembered by Phillis and John together with her grandchildren Nicola, Alistair, Lucinda, Caroline, Joanne, Julian and her great granddaughter Emily Claire."
