He lived at Railway Crossing in Bramber, West Sussex, England in 1891.1476,2663 At the 1891 census, Harry was living with his grandmother, Frances Woolgar, but was also on the census page for his father and siblings! He lived at 31 Castle Row in Steyning, West Sussex, England in 1891.1476 In 1895 Harry was an Errand Boy.2664 He served in the Royal Navy from 10 January 1896 to 12 February 1920.2665,2666,2667,2668 He signed on initially for 12 years service. His service number was 187154. At the 1901 census, he was serving as an Able Seaman onboard HMS Cambridge, a gunnery ship. She was docked in Devonport, England. He worked his way through the ranks, serving on a wide range of ships, ending his service as a Chief Petty Officer.
Harry landed from HMS Powerful at Durban on 29th October 1899 for Service in South Africa, in connection with the Military Operations. During this time, his mother (step-mother) Lucy M BLABER was awarded 20s a month from his pay.
On 12 March 1913 Harry was awarded the RN Good Conduct Medal.
