He was christened on 24 June 1832 in Ringmer, Lewes, East Sussex, England.3,110 He lived at Clayhill in Ringmer, Lewes, East Sussex, England in 1841–1851.14,15 In 1851 Edward was a Farm Labourer.14 In 1856 he was a Labourer.3 In 1861 he was a Farm Labourer.132 In 1863 Edward was a Bricklayer.133,134 At son Edward Arthur christening he is described as a Brickmaker. He lived at Apsley Road in South Norwood, Croydon, Surrey, England in 1871.135 He and his daughter Mary were lodging with Henry Bentley and family. In 1871 he was a Labourer.135 Edward lived at Louisa Cottage, 4 Portland Road in Croydon, Surrey, England in 1881.47 In 1881 he was a Carman.47 He lived at 7 Percy Road in Croydon, Surrey, England between 1891 and 1901.136,137 In 1891, he was a boarder at the house of Mary Ann Parker (56), a Laundress, and her 19 year old son, Edward F Parker. In 1901, he was still there, though her son had moved on. Between 1891 and 1901 Edward was a General Labourer.136,137 He died in 1902 at the age of 70 in Croydon, Surrey, England.138

In the 1881 LDS census transcription he is described as unmarried. We believe this is a transcription error (should be widower), as his children are all staying with their aunt and uncle in Camberwell. In 1871 census he is also described as a widower. She was buried on 9 August 1863 in Upper Norwood, Surrey, England.146

In 1881 Mary was a Domestic Servant.46 She lived at 48 Jardin Street in Camberwell, Surrey, England in 1881.46 She was residing with her uncle and aunt, James and Jemima Banks. She lived at Rose Villa, Stone Lane in Worthing, West Sussex, England in 1939.150 In 1939 Mary was a Retired Nurse.150
