C. Morling Ltd. of Seaford with whom he remained for over 54 years.

Newhaven from 1909 to 1929 serving with the Hove Division in the landing at Antwerp and then at the Dardenelles, where he worked on a lighter from the troopship "Clyde" carrying men ashore. David's Royal Navy service number was M21376. He served in the Royal Navy from 20 June 1916 to Demobilisation on 24 April 1919 on the 'Victory II' and the 'Cormorant'. His previously service in the Royal Navy Voluntary Reserves from 22 August 1914 until signing up for the Royal Navy counted towards his increase of pay.
