4. Susannah "Susan" BLABER^1,7 was born about 1821 in Ringmer, Lewes, East Sussex, England.^{16,43,44,45,46,47,48,49,50} She was christened on 25 December 1821 in Ringmer, Lewes, East Sussex, England.^1,51 She lived at North Court in Cliffe, Lewes, East Sussex, England on 7 June 1841.²² Susan lived at South Street in South Malling, Lewes, East Sussex, England between 30 March 1851 and 1853.^52,53 The 1851 census states she was unmarried. Susannah, with her two children John and Ellen, was a live-in servant in the house of her employer, John Goddard (38), widower, Chalk Digger, born Barcombe, Sussex and his daughter Sarah Elizabeth (10) born Chailey, Sussex. Ellen is believed to be the daughter of John Goddard and his deceased wife Ruth. Could John Goddard also be the father of Jack/John? By the 1881 census, John Goddard is a Foreman at the Chalk Pits, and Susannah is living with him again.
On 30 March 1851 she was a Housekeeper in South Malling, Lewes, East Sussex, England.⁵² She lived at Cliffe Workhouse in Cliffe, Lewes, East Sussex, England in 1861.⁵⁴ In 1861 Susan was a Servant.⁵⁴ She lived at Rusbridge Yard in Cliffe, Lewes, East Sussex, England in 1881.⁵⁵ She is back living with John Goddard at the 1881 Census. In 1891 she was a Housekeeper.⁵⁶ Susan lived at 3 Garden Cottages in Cliffe, Lewes, East Sussex, England between 1891 and 1901.^56,57 She was living, widowed, with her son, John Blaber, and family at the 1891 and 1901 censuses. She died on 31 October 1909 at the age of 88 at East Sussex County Asylum in Hellingly, East Sussex, England.^47,50

John GODDARD, son of Thomas GODDARD, was born about 1814 in Barcombe, East Sussex, England.^{58,59,60,61,62} In 1845 he was a Labourer.⁶³ Between 1851 and 1861 he was a Chalk Digger.^52,64 John lived at South Street in South Malling, Lewes, East Sussex, England in 1851.⁵² He was a widower at the 1851 census. His house keeper, Susannah "Susan" BLABER and her son John and 'daughter' Ellen are living-in.
In 1871 he was a Labourer.⁶⁵ In 1881 he was a Foreman of Chalk Pits.⁵⁵ John lived at Rusbridge Yard in Cliffe, Lewes, East Sussex, England in 1881.⁵⁵ He died in 1886 at the age of 72 in Lewes, East Sussex, England.^62,66

It is believed that the father was most likely John GODDARD. She died South Street on 29 November 1849 at the age of 0 in South Malling, Lewes, East Sussex, England.⁶⁹ She was also known as Ellen Blaber.⁶⁹

11	iii.	Henry BLABER⁷⁰ was born on 7 April 1853 in Lewes, East Sussex, England.^53,70,71 Henry was born at South Street, South Malling. He lived at South Street in South Malling, Lewes, East Sussex, England in 1853.⁵³ He was christened on 17 February 1856 at St Thomas a Beckett Church, Cliffe High Street in Lewes, East Sussex, England. Henry was christened on 17 February 1856. He was also known as Henry Goddard.
