10. John "Jack" BLABER²²⁸ was born on 11 December 1850 in South Malling, Lewes, East Sussex, England.^{229,230,231,232,233,234,235,236} His name on his birth certificate is given as JACK. No father is given. His mother's name is given as Susannah BLABER of South Malling, Lewes. He was born in South Street. Susannah was illiterate, having given her 'mark' on the birth certificate. Later in 1856 John was baptised and his father was stated as John GODDARD. He lived at South Street in South Malling, Lewes, East Sussex, England in 1851.⁵² He was christened on 17 February 1856 at St Thomas a Beckett Church, Cliffe High Street in Lewes, East Sussex, England. Between 1882 and 1883 Jack was a General Labourer.^{7,228,236,237} He lived at 2 Foundry Lane in Lewes, East Sussex, England in 1886/7.²³⁷ He lived at 3 Garden Cottages in Cliffe, Lewes, East Sussex, England between 1891 and 1901.^56,57 John's widowed mother, Susannah, was living with him and his family at the 1891 and 1901 censuses, presumably to look after his children following Sarah Jane's death in 1888. In 1891 Jack was a Carter.⁵⁶ In 1901 he was a Labourer at a Corn Merchant.⁵⁷ He died in 1909 at the age of 59 in Lewes, East Sussex, England.^232,238,239 Jack was also known as Jack Blaber.^232,238,239 He was also known as John Goddard.^232,238,239

John "Jack" BLABER and Sarah Jane TAYLOR were married on 22 June 1882 at St Thomas a Beckett Church, Cliffe High Street in Lewes, East Sussex, England.^236,240,241 The marriage was witnessed by Charles Dumbrell and Ann Taylor. The ceremony was performed by Rev Cecil R Blaker. Sarah Jane TAYLOR²³⁷, daughter of Robert TAYLOR, was born about 1847.^235,236 She died in 1888 at the age of 41 in Lewes, East Sussex, England.²⁴²
