James was placed, aged 13, with a Mr Downlew of Stone's Cross, Westham, as a gardener. There is still (in 2000) a garden centre there. He lived at 4 Hanover Place in Eastbourne, East Sussex, England in 1889.8 In 1899 he was a Beer Retailer (Heathfield) Kelly's.397 Richard Tyrrell Price, husband of Molly Brook who was granddaughter of Samuel, asserts that Samuel had a brother called James who ran the Barley Mow in Punnetts Town. In 1937 James was a Council Groundsman.397 He died Nypostatie Pneumonia & Chronic Bronchitis on 25 December 1937 at the age of 70 in Eastbourne, East Sussex, England.397 James died at 123 Church Street, Eastbourne, which was the Union Workhouse Hospital. James is said by Molly, his great niece, to have been landlord of the Barley Mow in Punnet's Town, Heathfield, Sussex, England. Research has not yet shown this to be true. In 1891 the licence was taken over by Samuel Collins and in a trade directory of 1938 it was in the hands of Jas. Lavender. Was Sam a relation of Kate, James' wife? Was Jas. Lavender a relation of Walter Lavender, thought to in a group photo including Sam Whymark? James Albert WEYMARK and Kate COLLINS were married on 9 November 1889 in Eastbourne, East Sussex, England.8 They were married at Christ Church.
